Hey y’all! Wanted to share this cool upcoming event with my food-lovin’ Bay Area peeps. Join James Beard award-winning local food journalist & author Kevin Alexander at the @marinartandgarden center on November 20, for the release of his new book, Burn the Ice. Kevin will take guests on a journey through the travails and triumphs of a number of key chefs, bartenders, and activists, as well as restaurants and neighborhoods that have shaped the culinary revolution in how Americans eat and drink. He will be joined by a guest panel moderated by Gibson Thomas, Editor of Edible Marin & Wine Country in conversation with Anjan Mitra, founder and co-owner of DOSA with locations in San Francisco and Oakland; and Heidi Krahling, the chef behind Insalata’s and Marinitas in San Anselmo. A reception and book signing (with books available for purchase from Book Passage) will follow the event. Tickets are $15! Link is in my profile ♥️ https://magc.z2systems.com/np/clients/magc/eventRegistration.jsp?event=2385& #bayareaevents #booksigning #marinartandgardencenter #kevinalexander #burntheice #foodies
Dearest friends, This wild, beautiful and amazing ride we call LIFE has had some big lessons for me this year. Namely, despite my best efforts to the contrary, I find trying to “do it all” is vastly overrated, and actually a recipe for insuring you will end up feeling depleted and uninspired. I have had a lot on my plate these past months (in addition to lots of good food), and after much thought I have decided to take a step back and go on hiatus from blogging until the new year (yay for 2020 . . . the year of clear vision!) I am hanging up my Superwoman cape for now, and doing some traveling and reflecting. There has been a lot going on behind-the-scenes in my personal life, and taking this time will allow me to return to writing refreshed and ready to bring my best to the page (which is what you deserve and what I demand of myself). In the meantime, I am channeling my creativity into my photography work, which is immensely gratifying and fills my soul. Please feel free to follow at @karenpavonephotography if you want to come along on my journey. I am so grateful for this community and the support you have shown me through the years. This is not goodbye—just see ya here in 2020! Love and light to you all 🙏♥️😘 #hiatus #takingabreak #illbeback #metime
Starting my day with a locally sourced breakfast to fuel and sustain the busy hours to come. It makes my heart sing to know EXACTLY where my food comes from, and the people behind each bite that are growing & raising deliciousness with the utmost attention to the land and animals in their care. It deeply nourishes my mind, body and soul to support these hard working producers! Plain whole milk Greek yogurt courtesy of grass fed cows from @strausmilk mixed with organic cottage cheese from @clover.sonoma, organic walnuts from @peaceandplentyfarmer, fresh organic strawberries from @tomaterofarm, organic blueberries by @sebastopolberry granola by @love_healthyfoods, and a dash of cinnamon from @localspicery. I am grateful to live in a place where there is such bounty available to consumers year round. Many thanks to @aim_farmers_markets & the leadership of @aim.ceo.andy for bringing together so many incredible producers at farmers markets we can all shop & enjoy. 🙏♥️
