March marks an exciting milestone for me: my first published piece as a freelance writer is out in NorthBay biz Magazine! Titled Cheesemakers’ Paradise, the article features a brief overview of the artisan cheesemaking industry in California, along with portraits of six local farmstead cheesemakers whose unique and delicious cheeses are making a name for themselves: Nicasio Valley Cheese Company in Nicasio, Achadinha Cheese Company in Petaluma, Valley Ford Cheese Company in Valley Ford, Ramini Mozzarella in Tomales, Bohemian Creamery in Sebastopol, and Weirauch Creamery near Petaluma. Individually and collectively, these cheesemakers represent fine examples of the artisan cheese movement in the North Bay.
To read the article, simply follow this link http://www.northbaybiz.com/General_Articles/General_Articles/Cheesemakers_Paradise.php. The only disappointment is the beautiful photography by Duncan Garrett is not included in the e-version of the magazine (which is a shame because the photos really captured each cheesemaker well).
I’m also pleased to share that the cover story of this issue, Destination Sonoma County, was written by my friend and colleague, Nancy Sands Johnson, who is a stellar journalist and personal inspiration: http://www.northbaybiz.com/General_Articles/General_Articles/Destination_Sonoma_County.php

Thanks Kirsten! I picked up a copy of Edible at Farmers’ Market yesterday and can hardly wait to cozy up with a cup of tea and read your pieces as well. Those cheesemakers are sure getting lots of great press!
